Change your perspective

Put yourself in the shoes of your potential guests. Imagine you are looking for a holiday apartment or a holiday home in your area on your booking platform. Just like your guests, you are shown pages and pages of offers.

Which front pictures are so inviting to you that you want to take a closer look at these offers? Take notes on what appeals to you. And how do your own photos look to you through the eyes of your customers now?

10-point-check for outstanding photographs

3 CAMERA & IMAGE EDITING

With most smartphones, you can already take very good pictures and edit them: align the photo horizontally, select the appropriate cut-out and change the brightness and colour temperature if necessary.

4 SHARPNESS & RESOLUTION

Make sure that all your images are really sharp. You may have noticed after your research from above if you have posted blurry images online. Also choose a sufficiently large image resolution of 1024 x 683 pixels.

5 PERSPECTIVE & VERTICALS

It is best to photograph rooms at eye level. Make sure that corners and edges of furniture are as vertical as possible - you can set a grid on your smartphone for this. Photos taken at an angle usually look rather confusing.

6 A GOOD OVERVIEW

Potential guests want to see as much of the rooms as possible in one picture. Wide-angle shots are best for this. Try different angles and findout the best way to show off your rooms.

7 ATMOSPHERIC  DETAILS

Add two or three attractive detail photos. With the portrait function you can also take some atmospheric pictures. Take pictures of cosy cushions and blankets, a few books, candles...

8 IMAGE SELECTION

Select your pictures specifically so that your guests can imagine your accommodation and the surrounding area as well as possible. Avoid unnecessary repetition - 15 to 20 pictures should be enough.

9 COVER PICTURE

This is the eye-catcher! It's best to choose a photo of your most beautiful room. Exterior views can be taken if the house is very special, photos of the surroundings if they are sensational.

10 PICTURE FROM THE PRO

If you don't have a good eye for good photo compositions yourself, then better invest in a professional.  According to Airbnb, you can increase your bookings by 20% with professional photos.

1 CLEAN UP & STAGE

Before you start your photo shoot, clean and tidy your rooms as best you can so that nothing is lying around and distracting. Then stage your interior - create a cosy atmosphere with fresh flowers, filled glasses...

2 DAYLIGHT

Always shoot in daylight. Find out the times and weather conditions when each room is friendliest and brightest. Draw the curtains, but be careful not to create too harsh shadows when the sun is shining.
